404Nerds

The End of a Era

The End.

Over the last ten years of my life, I've dived head first into deigning, and coding a game engine called "Atlas Game Engine" while it started as a modular project to help with a game I was designing, it became something bigger. A full suite game engine..well almost full it lacked something that I had not designed and had no desire to design a full editor, the idea was simple you added in libraries to the game you wanted such as. Atlas_Rendering, Atlas_ttf, Atlas_Scripting, Atlas_Network etc. You then used these libraries to help build your game, during this course of time I had re-coded much of it porting from C++ to C#.

This last year I had begun work on a fun sci-fi game called Explore, it was to be released this December for a beta testing release, In February of this year I had sold limited rights to my game engine and it's code to another game studio a friend of mine owned. It was just a single one time deal to help someone out that had been asking for over ten years to play with my tools (haha insert dirty joke). Last month they approached me again asking to purchase exclusive access to the entire source code, full commercial rights, along with production and future endeavors of my game engine. I was reluctant at the very beginning, I am very proud of my game engine and I really had no desire for it to ever get into someone else's hands due to how I code, and generate comments within my code.

I had decided to take them up on this offer, so my tech stack for Atlas will now be in someone else's hands from here on out....what does this mean for 404? Nothing 404Nerds does not run on Atlas tech, it ran side long with it but never truly interacted with it. I have fully released my rights to my game engine, web server, relational database, scripting langue and all the other tools. Withholding only a few tools that I will keep for my self until I decide it's time for a release but that will not be under the Atlas umbrella.

So now that this chapter is over I will also be announcing the complete cancellation of Explore, Duke County, VR in Life, and any other game that was being used under the Atlas Game Engine.

Now to the future! What does it hold for me? I am not sure, I love 404Nerds and this brand and what it can become and has become is already being really awesome, so only time will tell. For now I am once again under a non compete and a NDA contract so no games for me for a year.

Good luck Trevor!

Thanks for being here with me I love you all, and truly hope that your game and your studio make it big! I will be show casing there games soon, super excited to be doing consulting for him and his team.
